Are you having trouble staying comfortable in your Denver home? With the frigid temperatures we’ve had so far this winter, this is unfortunately a common occurrence for many Colorado homeowners. While there could be several reasons behind the comfort issues in your home, there’s a good chance you could benefit from insulation and air sealing upgrades.
Before making any home performance upgrade, however, it’s important to find out where your house has inefficiencies. The team at e3 Power can help with our comprehensive energy audit services.
The Importance of Insulation & Air Sealing
Insulation and air sealing work together to create a protective barrier between your home’s living spaces and the outdoor elements. Insulation helps prevent heat transfer in and out of your home while air sealing stops unwanted air movement. Since both services offer a different form of protection it’s important to have them done in tandem. Together, insulation and air sealing provide several benefits for Colorado homeowners, including:
- Year-round comfort
- Improved indoor air quality
- Moisture & mold protection
- Lower heating & cooling costs
How Energy Audits Work at e3 Power
During an unbiased energy audit with our team of home performance experts, we’ll identify key areas of your home that are wasting energy. We use a variety of specialized tools, like infrared thermal imaging and blower door testing, to accurately pinpoint the source of comfort issues, indoor air quality problems, and more.
The entire energy audit process usually takes about 3-4 hours. Here’s a glimpse into what happens in that time:
- A certified energy auditor from e3 Power will learn about your concerns and any issues you may be experiencing in your home during an initial interview.
- Our team will conduct several tests throughout your home, collecting data that will give us valuable insight into where it has inefficiencies.
- We’ll perform a safety test on any fossil fuel appliances used in your home, like furnaces, water heaters, and stoves.
- Our team will perform a blower door test to measure air leakage and determine where air sealing is needed. During the test, we’ll also use an infrared thermal imaging camera to find areas that have inadequate insulation.
- 7-10 days after your energy audit, you’ll receive a report of our findings and a suggested list of improvements that can make your home healthier, more comfortable, and more energy efficient. At e3 Power, we offer 2 levels of energy audit reports: a basic report for $135 and a detailed report for $250.
Measure Your Home’s Energy Efficiency with a HERS Rating
For homeowners looking to measure the energy efficiency of their homes further, e3 Power offers RESNET HERS ratings! As the industry standard for calculating the energy efficiency of a home, a HERS rating ensures that your home meets your area’s energy codes and puts a value on its performance and energy consumption. A HERS rating is also a good option if you plan to sell your home in the near future because a low score (the lower the better!) can increase its resale value.
